Hi All
I have developed a puzzling problem with my Icom IC910H. During this past
week (Tuesday night) we had a storm which resulted in a general power
failure, which lasted several hours. At the time of the power cut my radio
was on, listening to AO-40 (shortly before that I had worked SV9ANJ for
country #71 at S5 signals). As the power only came on later, I did not check
the radio until I came to use it yesterday. I found that my RX on 2m is
virtually dead. At first I thought my d/converter was blown, but connected
it to my IC706MkIIG and it worked fine. TX on 2m is fine, and 70cm is
unaffected. If I key up a radio in the shack I get about an S8-S9 reading,
but nothing from local repeaters (normally S9+) or any noise from the
d/converter.
Our only South African agents are in Johannesburg (1 000km away), so before
I send the radio in I wanted to check if anyone had any ideas as to the
problem - the 910 is such a complex radio, it may be something relatively
simple! I know that I lost TX once after travelling with the radio, only to
find that an internal ribbon cable had come loose!
If anyone has any ideas, they would be appreciated!!
