after hearing several messages on this, could those with the problem
please do a trace route on them. to do a trace rout on windows, you
type tracert followed by the site that you want to find the route to.
this will ping each router between you and www.qsl.net by varying the
ttl(time to live) of the packet, the higher the ttl the more routers
the packet is allowed to pass through. this will show any connection
problems between you and www.qsl.net. below is the one produced by my
computer, running debian linux. here is the command that you can cut
and paste into a command prompt: "tracert www.qsl.net". After I have
received this information i will post another message on this bulletin
board as well as notify anybody concerned with the problem. The only
way that this will fail is if you are behind a fire wall that doesn't
allow ICMP(spacial internet packets used to evaluate the condition of
networks) packets, or the route information between you and qsl.net
does not exist any more. Please do this at night or at a non peak
time as ICMP packets, especially a lot of them can eat up bandwidth.
Also please send the results of your trace route to me so they don't
fill up the bulletin board.
