RE: will we reach the 110k in time.

I worked AO-10, AO-13, FO-20, FO-29, RS-15, RS-13 and AO-27 in the
 past.
I donated a reasonable sum for AO-40, but I wasn't able to work it with
the equipment I had, once it kinda went half+ belly up. Since then I
dropped off for a few years.

Recently I joined the list to see what was going on, I posted here
 about
making a PayPal easy 1 click donation at the AMSAT site, but this idea
was criticized for various reasons (regardless of the fact that I would
have donated money by now if this had been in place). Having had time
to think it over, I'm now re-evaluating.

As a side note, I find the AMSAT site to be poorly organized and with
just a little surfing, I couldn't find out how to donate. The method
and
requests should be more obvious, and on the index page.

I note that AO-40 was off for a month, but now back on and I may yet
pursue it. In the meantime, I did a little listening to FO-29 and
realized that I have no longer any interest in LEO type sats. Catching
one, maybe, for a few minutes, if you are lucky some nights just holds
no interest anymore - I consider this rather primitive given the number
of years amateur sats have now been around. Why should I donate to Echo?

From my 20,000 foot view, I think Eagle should have been put up before
Echo, and the design should have been for 1 band up and 1 band down
(maybe 2?) - in other words made with a much higher probability of
success, unlike AO-40 with the "all-band, all-mode, all your money"
approach. (Actually I never heard of Eagle until this post, so I'm not
 familiar with its design)

Bottom line, give me - a new/returning guy 1) some incentive and 2) an
easy
 way to donate!

 Just my $.02

By the looks of the Echo launch campaign thermometer, it don't look like
there is much interest in getting a new satellite up. and no interest in
getting eagle started since echo has to be launched before they will
start
working on eagle.

on Dec 25 2003 it was at $45.049
on Jan 5 2004 it is $46.085
WOW look at the money rolling in......everyone talks about wanting a new
satellite HA!
