After one month of preparations (when the transponder was off) yesterday
I finally made my first QSOs on Oscar 40. The antennas are mounted on the
back balcony of my apartment, with a tight "window" of about 50 degrees (90
to 140) in azimuth and a minimum elevation of 17 degrees. In these challenged
conditions, I have between two and five hours of visibility of the bird almost
every day, and - boy! The passband sounds like 20 meters, or... what 20 meters
should have sounded 30 years ago: plenty of DX, plenty of ragchewing, fairness
and courtesy! Thank you AMSAT for an outstanding satellite.
