I second the pay-pal concept.  It is a very easy mechanism that is fast
becoming a defacto mechanism to move money around for purchases.  It is
generally 8-9pm, after I get home from work, put the kids to bed, before I
have mental space to think about such things.  Times during the day that I
can reach someone at AMSAT to give a credit card number, I have so very
limited time and am often not even at a desk.  I made the same complaint to
my bank.  They had 8am to 6pm hours for service.  The only time I had to do
my checkbook was after 9pm, so I could never get customer service.  They
soon changed their hours and added an off-hours e-mail system.

Is there a barrier to setting up such an account for AMSAT?  The only
downside is a small transaction fee, but that would be offset by the
increase in number of donations.

Strike when the iron is hot, is what I say.  I read my e-mail now, play
satellites in the eve and as a result, I get exited about AMSAT, so now is
when I thnk about giving and my checkbook is wide open.  Frankly, the above
is the only reason I havent donated yet.  I want to and plan to give
generously, I love these satellites, but calling is a real challenge for me
during the day.  I am a huge supporter of AMSAT and all it is accomplishing
for ham radio.
