Re: East Timor on AO40 Friday morning

Wayne, any idea how low to the horizon they may be able to work? It's going to be a mighty short window here in EL88. I hope the west coasters will let a few of us east coast guys sneak in a qso before we slide out of the window. I'm not sure if we'll get another shot.

I was informed the the East Timor AO40 operator will be attempting to work North America when AO40 rises over East Timor Friday morning. Beacon +30 is the advertised frequency. Hopefully on CW, considering the squint angle and range.

With alon/alat of 20/0, the squint angle will be about 27 degrees when AO40 rises at East Timor around 1230 UTC on Friday. The squint angle gradually improves after that, as the east coast gradually goes out of the footprint.
