RE: AO-40 question

Contrary to the method described in the AO-40 FAQ, I suggest you make
yourself an "AO-40 Frequency Calculator" developed by Howard Long,
G6LVB. It is quite simple to make, and you can find complete
instructions at http://www.g6lvb.com/oldtech.htm. Once you have the
calculator put together, note the frequency of the middle beacon, and
set the "MB" hash mark on that frequency. From that point, you can
either listen and pick out an unused downlink frequency, and transmit on
the matching uplink frequency from the calculator and call CQ. If you
hear a QSO in progress that you want to join, use a similar procedure.

The reason I don't like the CW method of finding your signal is the
added complexity of dealing with the difference in center frequency when
you switch from CW back to SSB mode. Once you get comfortable with the
calculator, you will hear your own downlink almost every time on the
first try.

You can then lock your FT-847 into SAT mode, and then only tweak your
transmit frequency to adjust for Doppler.

Steve Diggs, W4EPI

Subject: [amsat-bb] AO-40 question

For some reason I cant find my down link.
the FT-847 and watt meter say there is output.
I tune up and down with the sub tune control with no luck.
All seems to work good on AO-7.

I have no clue what to do next.

using:
FT 847
instantrack with itune and KCT
