Tony's answer is indeed correct but it is possible to extend the sides of
the grill as well as cover it with wire mesh such that it would be suitable
for use with a circularly-polarized patch feed (check out Jerry's "2 foot
dish mod" entry at http://members.aol.com/k5oe/.  Once modified in this way,
the dish will reverse the polarity sense of the RHCP signal coming from
AO-40, so the patch feed used with it would need to be designed for LHCP.
