Re: KR-500 KR-400 with KR-5400 controller ????.



You'll need to add a motor start capacitor for the elevation rotor.

In the old KR-400, KR-500 rotors, the big motor start capacitor is in the
control box.  In the 5400 the elevation rotor has the motor start cap in the
rotor itself.   So if you try to use the old elevation rotor, there is no
motor start cap and it won't start... :-)

Check out the surplus houses and find a motor start cap with specs which are
in the ballpark and just hang it on the back of the 5400 with pigtails to
the screw terminals 4 and 5.  I did this for a while with one of my setups
and it worked fine.
