Maximum squint for AO-40 to be usable

Squint Angle Observations -

On 9/13/2003 I was able to work :

EI3DP CW SQA = 32 degs with 559 signals Satellite range ~ 40,000 km
DL8YHR SSB SQA = 36.2 degs 55 signals
2E1EUB SSB SQA = 36.2 degs 54 signals
DL9OJ CW SQA = 38.2 degs 429 signals

My station using 1.8 meter dish with 25-30 watts maximum at the feed using L

It all depends on your system and a few other orbit particulars.
Ao-40 can be worked on L comfortably at 25deg, the U uplink can
be useable at 35 deg if you have a good receive system and enough
uplink power. Depending on the orbit the sqnt may not be rising as
fast as the range is falling and this can permit you to use the
sat at high sqnts quite easily, it is also what makes the sat
useable to very low powers at low squints.
