[amsat-bb] AO40 Noise Floor Question

Hello all...

Is it possible to hear the transponders noise floor with a 3 foot, off-set
dish ( N3IYR ) ? I've noticed that my S-meter rises approximately one S-unit
above the cold sky noise when pointing at AO-40.  I was under the impression
that you need a 4 or 5 foot dish to "see" the noise floor.
