First ever model airplane to cross the Atlantic

All,

A friend pointed me to this interesting article about the first model
airplane to cross the Atlantic Ocean, which occurred last week.

If you read the fine print it says they tracked the airplane over the ocean
with satellite communications using transmission bursts every minute using
"orbiting communications satellites." Apparently the tracking was done using
GSM (cell phone?) when in visual range for landing.

Does anyone know what satellite service was used for this experiment?
