Posting etiquette, privacy of email addresses

A significant portion of messages to amsat mailing lists include email addresses in quoted text. Please keep in mind that all text in the body of your message will appear in the amsat-bb online archive, where the email address can then be mined by robot programs prowling the web.

Amsat-bb contributors should be more careful about what text is quoted in their "reply" messages. There are 3 major considerations:

1. Delete personal email addresses from quoted text.

2. Don't send reply messages with extremely large amounts of quoted text. The vast majority of a long string of quoted text is usually irrelevant to your reply. Some recent Cubesat messages were good examples of this, with short messages that quoted hundreds of lines of telemetry data.

3. To enhance comprehension of the context of "reply" messages, it is usually best to include the quoted text BEFORE your reply. The quoted text should be SHORT and directly relevant to your reply.

Thanks for your consideration. I don't want to be a policeman, and I don't want anybody else to be policeman. But occasional "posting etiquette" reminders are probably justified.
