Then have an "opt out" option available to the membership AND include it on
the ballet. Perhaps it might be an incentive for a few more members to
vote. Lord knows some kind of an incentive is required to overcome the
apathy.
I have nothing against releasing my name and call as a member of AMSAT.
Lord knows if someone wants to find me, they have thousands of easier ways
than using my AMSAT membership.

Privacy, that's why. And privacy includes not having to explain to someone
else why.
Whether they're ashamed of being a member, hiding from a hit squad, trying
to avoid showing up on any more mailing lists, or any other reason, it's
their business.
