RE: FW: Sat rigs - REPLY -

Gopal,
I have two Icom 910H units and just love them. One as the base station
and one as an AO40 Portable. I have the 1.2 Ghz modules in them and they
work fine. One issue is the power level of the 1.2Ghz module. Unless you
have 3" feed line or the antenna is just outside the shack, there is a
line loss concern. I have over 125' of coax run from the shack to the
antenna system, so I added a DL2AM 60 watt 1.2Ghz brick out at the
towers. With the couple watts that arrives at the dog-house I can get up
to 50 watts TPO to the dish or helix. If you are interested in looking
over the installation go to www.wmfd.com/w8gsm
I am sure many other rigs will do just fine but I like the 910H

Hi Everyone,

I have been using a Yaesu FT 847 for some time with good success.

I am now thinking of a rig which will give me the option of a 1.2 gig
uplink also.

Would greatly appreciate any suggestions from personal experience
