JD1/Ogasawara Special Station

This year is the 35th anniversary of the reversion of the Ogasawara
Islands. In commemoration of this, special station JD1YAB is set from
10th Jun to 31st Aug at Chichi-jima Island, Ogasawara. The operation
frequency is 3.5-145MHz and satellite AO-40, UO-14. AO-40 station
setup is planed around 20th Jun. UO-14 setup is already finished, but
no activity by today. Satellite activity is maybe low. It will depend
on operator who is interested in satellite or not. Operation team
from Japanese mainland who stay there from 26th to 29th Jun is
planing AO-40 operation. I hope they will work many stations on AO-40.

Ogasawara Islands were returned to Japan by USA at 26th Jun 1968. The
Islands are located about 1000km south of Tokyo. The only way to
Ogasawara is ship. It takes about 25hours. Do you konw Ogasawara
Islands are part of Tokyo?
