Re: Nominations for the AMSAT Board of Directors - REPLY -

I just made a decision here in SNJ. I usually do field day with a group of
my friend's, about 30 miles north of here. About a month ago a club(whose
local policies, I don't agree with) south of here asked me to do Field day
with them. I was talking to the group over the last few day's and there is a
marked interest in working satellites. Much more then my favirote field day
club. Some of you might of heard kc2jpp, and n2jai on the FM bird's lately.
Well this morning I was talking on the local repeater about Bob's comment's
about the $1000 a member, and Bill, n2jai said he doesn't have a $1000, but
he would join and donate maybe a $100. I thought about this, and made the
decision to do field day with their group. I've been on travel alot lately
for work, I will also be gone all next week, so were talking FM bird's only
from SNJ this year. I have my Arrow cross yagi, a spare Drake, and a BBQ
dish I screened . But I won't have time to get it all together.
Even though I don't alway's agree with the AMSAT politics I feel that I
have an obligation to support AMSAT. It has been the most satisifing aspect
of the hobby for me since I've been a ham. If we all did something similar
and say get 5 new members each, some donating, well, you do the math....

Hmmm, anybody against putting up a Trump sponsored satellite? Just a joke,
remember the commercial satellite fiasco a few years ago? Well maybe it's
not a joke, it could be switched to public service during hurricane
warning's. A possible tax write off for the Casinos? Those guy's are always
looking for niche support at the tables, you know new market's to tap.
I know, I'm home recovering from a medical procedure done on my right foot,
and I'm getting bored! Well, my two cent's anyway.....
