Good to hear that others are also considering giving AO-40/QRP a try.  I
checked into the AMSAT 20+20 net last weekend running just 5w with my FD set
up.  During the previous week's pass on Saturday I also had no trouble
working the satellite at 5w.  I certainly wasn't the strongest signal on the
bird but found it encouraging even with the "normal" 6db of AGC activity on
70cm.  I also tried 1w off and on throughout the pass and found I could copy
voice out to about 50k km.  CW would have been easy copy at 1w all the way
out to apogee.
