Re: PCSat from the "Outback"

Hi Roger,
I did notice the packets from PCSat but I was really
commenting on the effectiveness of the "total system" with included the
availability of terrestial I-Gates. I noticed that on some occasions the
terrestial I-Gate was in South Australia (~2500 km away) or New Zealand
(~3000 km away) so in general I was quite impressed with "the system". I
visited a friend of mine in Mereeba (~16S145E) who is a helicopter
"mechanic" who repairs helicopters on Thursday Island (~11S142E) which are
used for search and rescue and he was quite impressed with how much accurate
information APRS provided compared with the EPIRB system carried by ships
and aircraft. His comment was that "APRS and PCsat were much better." He has
been following my progress using http://map.findu.com/vk2kgm-1 . He has also
plenty of experience with the EPIRB system.

regards,
Murray
