Re: DC voltage to AIDC-3731AA



Why is this voltage so critical?  My wall wart ran hot and was overloaded.
In addition to the AIDC,  I supplied preamp current of about 20 ma thru the
bias tee.  I substituted 13.8 vdc from the station power supply for the wall
wart and all seems to be fine.  Some have even bypassed the 7812 regulator
in the AIDC.  My measurements in the shack also do not show any performance
problems from using 13.8 vdc power supply for the AIDC downconverter.  Where
am I wrong?
