I disagree.

If not for using phonetics, many people on the local repeater would know me as:

K4ST
K4FD
K4SD
K4SB

ect...

I have been called all of them before saying my call with proper phonetics.

Jon your post below just enforces that.

Use phonetics when letters can be confused.
