That short of a cable after the preamp doesn't really matter much.
Even very small cable wil have negligable attenuation with a foot or so.

Even with more the NF is espablished at the preamp, and you'd need, say, 10 
db
of cable loss before that cable would make a noticable NF difference.

Now, if that cable were "in front" of the preamp, it'd be another story, 
it'd really matter.

Use what will work well mechanically and keep water out.
