The 736 already encodes. Its built in. I think the fts 8 is a decoder.
Not sure though, apart from the fact the 736 does encode ctcss :)

Anybody have a FTS-8 Tone Encoder for a FT-736R they are willing to part
with.
With the new Saudi sat 1C online I sure would like to find one for my
