PCsat2 (Launch July 2003) will have a 10m 29 MHz PSK31 uplink receiver
with a UHF FM downlink so that the entire 3 KHz wide PSK-31 passband is
translated down without any added doppler on the UHF link.
The total doppler will be about 1 Hz per second in the waterfall due only
to each person's uplink, so each person can adjust to find a nice quiet
place in the audio spectrum. (Yes you have to tune your UHF FM receive in
5 KHz donwlink increments to keep the FM signal in the passband)...
UNRELATED QUESTION IS: Since this is the first ever AMSAT 10m uplink,
does anyone care to comment on any REAL IONOSPHERIC SCIENCE that can be
conducted by watching for over-the-horizon porpogation effects into the
receiver uplink? I have "phsysics" student that is looking for a Thesis
project and it can't just be a "comms" project. It has to relate to the
space environment and ionospheric science to qualify...
So if you have any "good words" on the "science" that could be done with
this experiment, let me know.. (Meanwhile we get to play with a PSK-31
multi-user satellite!)
