Re: PCR-1000

Hi Guys,
This may be a little late but I was away at the Space Symposium.
A few comments:

1. ICOM has not released the RS-232 protocol.
2. The suggested links to the web page with the
    protocol do not work.
3. InstantTune does not have a "DDL" client (must be
    thinking of some other program)
4. InstantTune does not support the PCR-1000 mostly
because the protocol is not public.
5. As someone noted already, for decoding AO-40 telemetry,
you are much better off using the built-in frequency
tuning capability of AO40rcv because otherwise you will loose
perfectly good frames when the radio frequency gets updated.
Unfortunately it won't drive the PCR-1000 (see #1 above!)

Overall, this does not look like a good choice for monitoring
the telemetry. And, while the PCR-1000 looks like a neat radio,
ICOM's strategy of not publishing the protocol seems "interesting"
at best :)

Tony AA2TX
