Hi Dick,
A few years ago when I was experimenting with a handheld quagi antenna on
FO-20, I often could compensate for the phase change by rotating the
antenna 90 degrees. My initial idea (which turned out to be wrong) was
that if I took a linearly polarized antenna and mounted it at 45 degrees
I would not have to worry about the fades caused by polarization changes.
I found out that rotating the antenna from 45 degrees in one direction
to 45 degrees in the other direction took care of the fades caused by
phase changes from the satellite.
