Michael,

That's nice if you never go anywhere.  For instance, I could drive to
Dallas for the Amsat Symposium...it would take five days to reach the
Montana border and re-enter the US, then another 3-4 days to get to
Dallas...likewise another 9-days to return...three days at the conference
and I have blown my entire annual vacation time and racked up 6,000 miles
on my car and cost around $2000 in gas, food, lodging and depreciation on
the car...maybe a tire or two...driving in subzero wx over (very) lonely
roads.  It takes about 12-hours and costs an average of $550 to fly from
Alaska.  

Not flying is Not an option for some of us!
Sorry I will not make it this year, though!
