Hello Bruce.

Airport security is really a joke.  My wife and I are both pilots right now 
she is the only one that flies for a major airline (I fly for a major 
government...grin).

So here she is in her four stripe uniform (she is a training captain with a 
Major US airline...) she goes up to security and they take her pointer away 
(its this extendable thing that she can use to point at stuff while doing 
walkarounds etc) and when queried the "lead inspector" goes "it could be 
used as a weapon".

Now of course she is the one in charge of the airplane and two her three 
inch heels could probably do more damage then the pointer.

This is homeland security
