WOW! My first
Hi all,
Well that was a first, and what a big cheesey grin I have on my face!!
After finally taking the plunge and getting some decent gear I hooked up my
new FT-847 to my Arrow antenna and had my first attempt at listening and
working through FO-20.
After a few calls and not hearing myself I (incorrectly it appears) swept my
tx freq until I could hear myself, and wow could I hear myself, better than
any terrestrial SSB I've ever heard. Hang on.. I was only using 5 watts...
fantastic.
So it appears that keeping a fixed tx and following with rx is the
recognised technique (?) Now all I need is someone to work!
I've been dying to get something more than a TH-D7 and an Arrow on the air
for years, and I've finally taken the plunge. I'd like to thank Howard G6LVB
for his endless enthusiasm, experimentation, help and encouragement, what a
guy, pity the winds claimed his mast this weekend.
Let the fun begin!!! Now.. when's the next pass......
73.. Ciemon G0TRT
