We'll begin rescheduling the AMSAT 40-20 net. For new users: ~40 MA above the
start of UL for an approximate start time, to the closest half hour to make
it easy
to remember. The 20 is 20 mHz above the beacon, avoiding qrm OR qrn. If
occupied,
look 5 and 5 above that frequency until vacant........
Remember this is not 20 meters. For the past 25 years satellite users
RARELY "claimed"
a frequency, and we have no reason to start now. We all have knobs....
Our reasonable time exposure for the western half of the US has been to the
west, and we are
now going into a cycle of viewing in both directions. We have three net
controls, and can
always use more...particularly in the eastern half of the US and Canada.
Our next net will be conducted on 19oct02 @ 0300z. Net control will be
wb6llo, and he
will maintain a fixed xmit frequency. Some net controls prefer to adjust
for doppler
on both frequencies, so listen for their announcement at the beginning of
the net.
The doppler shift will be lessening as we approach MA's nearing 128, and
there will be
little noticeable difference..again, we all have knobs(At least I won't be
giving mine up!).
Remember your position in the queue, hand it off to the next person in
line; if in doubt
return it to net control.....Net control is NEVER off frequency...zero beat
him...
Coverage will include all of the US and Canada, with Alaska peeking in
about an hour later.
Signals will not be all that tremendous, but the beginning of a complete
good cycle is
the time to start keeping notes on recommendations for net times to take
advantage of the best
pointing angles, consistent with maximum world coverage.
Suggestions to wb6llo@amsat.org, or better yet, come up on the net, and we
all can kick
it around....cu there es tnx....

Disagree: I learn....
