Thought this might be of interest to the AMSAT community:
I was hunting around for a good KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) switch for my
home computers the other night and ran across a real winner from a
company called IOGear. http://iogear.com/products/product.php?Item=GCS62
They make a product called "miniview micro" to control two computers
from a single keyboard. They run about $35 to $45. (they're listed all
over eBay as well as commercial sites) It's been working like a charm,
just tap the Scroll Lock key twice to switch from one computer to the
other. Your hands don't need to leave the keyboard, no pushing buttons
on a seperate box.
Since many of us use multiple computers for tracking, logging and other
projects in our stations and since desktop real estate is always at a
premium, I thought this might be of interest to some of you. I don't own
any stock in this company and don't plan to. (maybe that wouldn't be a
bad idea though)
They also have a nice little USB/Serial adapter on the website. I'v been
looking for one for my laptop. (no serial port on it) But I haven't
purchased one yet so I'll have to let you know how that turns out.
Here's the URL for that. If you already have one I'd like to hear your
comments. http://iogear.com/products/product.php?Item=GUC232A
Just thought some of this might be handy in a few shacks. If you're not
interested sorry that I wasted your bandwidth.
Best wishes,
Mark Fossum - N0NSV
