Assuming that your soundcards are working OK (ie, no DMA or other clashes)
and Windows is seeing your soundcards, I think the problem may be that the
software you're using doesn't directly support selection of soundcard, or
you may have a Windows setting to change.

Some soundcard software I've seen will only use the default soundcard. In
this case prior to each time you launch each program, you will need to set
the preferred (or default) soundcard. How to set the default sound card is

If your software has the option to select specific soundcards, you'll want
to uncheck 'use only preferred devices' in the Sound/Multimedia control
panel applet. This is described in

FWIW, I use AO40Rcv and MixW simultaneously on two soundcards with no
problem. Both, however, allow selection of soundcard within the program
without having to resort to the control panel applet.
