Hi AMSATs,
I am looking to find an way to make an small, stand-alone, portable pacsat
station. I like to have it as flexible as possible with the possibilities to
work as most satellites that is possible.
Because of this I am looking for an modem that can do for minimum:
1k2 AFSK for APRS
9k6 FSK for PACSATs
38k4 FSK for newer satellites
** all modes with full duplex for pacsat use **
When possible I also like 1200BPSK, but it is not a must.
I think the best sollution is an DSP modem. I have an DSP-2232 that can do
all these modes without any problem. The only problem of this modem is the
huge size :0( What I am looking for is an Eurocard (16cm x 10cm)size or even
smaller. I have looked on the internet but I can not find such an modem. One
of the greatest problems seems to be the 38k4 part.
I seen also FPGA solutions, but these can do only one speed. They can not
switch very easy between other speeds/modes. The G3RUH TNC's are technical
okay but have the same problem. The TNC have to set by hardware (capacitor &
resistors) to one speed and can not switch between different speeds. (Or
with additional PCB's, what gives physical size problems again)
Does somebody know if there are small sized modems that can do all these
tasks ? (I prefer no connectors to save phisical space)
73 de PE1RAH, William
