Hi All,
Many thanks for all the valuable hints on G5400/G5500. I have to open the
G5400 El. rotator one of these days to replace the faulty pot.
If I may, I have now another problem to add. Recently I ordered Emotator
Model EV800DX and in course of testing and calibrating it, I successfully
dropped it, what I thought was a minor fall on a carpeted surface. The
Azimuth motor is now making a grinding noise. The Elevation part is all
right. It would appear that an errant ball bearing is out of place. But,
there is another interesting observation. If I invert it, there is no
noise and the rotator works normally. The trouble is that I can't make
it do the head stand all the time.
I wonder if someone could help me. Unlike the Yaesu manual, Emotator
manual is very sketchy and has no exploded view of the rotator. The
supplier in Singapore has not bothered to respond to my query. They only
sell. I haven't tried the Emotator in Japan yet. Perhaps some of our
Japanese friends may be able to obtain the service manual for me.
With such a fund of knowledge available on the net, I am sure someone can
throw some light to resolve this problem. Many thanks in advance.
Sangat, 9M2SS
