Re: [sarex] Direct reception of TV signals from ISS and Shuttle

Hi Dan and the rest of the group,
                                                        I already have an
S-band low noise amplifier & down-converter unit and 24db gain grid dish
antenna I use for ATV in the 2400 MHz - 2450 MHz band. It has a LO at 1450
MHz so that makes 2400 MHz - 2450 MHz come down to 950 MHz - 1000 MHz to
suit a standard satellite receiver (Analog or digital).

I have also received good pictures from a news & traffic watch
helicopter (analog FMTV) on 2561MHz at about 70 Km range - so I know the
system works OK. My first question is what is the modulation used by the
shuttle? - eg is it 64QAM MPEG2? The second question is what frequency is
it on?

regards,
Murray

| Murray,
|
| I don't know about any software or handshaking being required.
|
| And I don't know where you would get a s-band TV receiver you would
probably
| have to convert the s-band signal down to 425 to 430 MHz or a standard tv
| frequency.
|
| you might try a web search abd see if you can come up with something.
|
| Sorry I can't help you further.
