It's a small world department:
Many of you saw the "live" RocketCam photos from the camera on the Atlantis
external tank. What you may not know, is that the camera has an AMSAT
"hook". Take a look at http://www.EclipticEnterprises.com and you will see
that the AMSAT's own Jan King, W3GEY is the Chief Technical Officer of
Ecliptic. Hopefully they will get their new server online soon so we can all
grab the fantastic video clip! Congrats on a fine job, Jan.
Going a bit further into the small world department: the camera was "born"
some years ago in Boulder with the main principals being Jan and another old
AMSAT stalwart Gordon Hardman, W0RUN (ex KE3D, KO0A, ZS1FE, ZS1ANT, ZE1DC).
Gordon and Jan were the main AMSAT-NA people that brought you AO-10. Gordon
and his XY: Molly (W0MOM) are now principals in firm called Crosslink
(http://www.crosslinkinc.com/), better known in Amateur circles as the maker
of the famous Alpha series of amplifiers. And you will see the RocketCam on
the Crosslink web page with a pointer to Ecliptic.
So you HF amplifier may well be a cousin of the camera used on the shuttle!
