ISS and PCsat affectionados:
Today and Tomorrow the plan was to conduct a joint ISS/PCsat packet
experiment, but due to the complexities of coordination we probably won't
know for sure until, or if it happens.
So if you are monitoring the downlinks today, be aware that you may find
ISS on its normal freq of 145.800 or it may be over on 145.825. If it is
on 145.825 we hope it will respond to these aliases:
RS0ISS, ARISS, WIDE, and possibly W3ADO-1
In any case, it will do callsign substitution and the packets will come
down as via RS0ISS*. The fun part will be the fact that both ISS and
PCsat are mutually in view during these times:
Oct 7 1209z - 1550z, 1600z - 1630z
Oct 8 0555z - 0613z, 0633z - 1015z
Oct 9 0017z - 0400z, 0417z - 0435z
If ISS or PCsat passes over your location during any of these time frames,
there is the SMALL possibility that you might be able to do a dual-hop
packet from one to the other spacecraft. The only difficulty will be QRM.
So it is best to NOT hog the channel, but set your path and then sit back
and transmit a packet once a minute or so, and after it is all over, we
see what happened.
Also, as of Sunday, PCsat is back in negative power budget and will only
be working when it has been in sun for 10 minutes or so to give it time to
charge up. THis means YOUR pass must be after about 9 AM your local time
(1 hour on the ground equals 4 minutes for PCsat)
Then again, none of this may come to pass... due to difficuties of
scheduling. But since 7-8 October was the last plan I heard, I figured I
may as well alert everyone to be watching...
