Computer-Controlled Rotor --- nuts to bolts

Can someone take a few moments off-line (via email or instant
messenger), and run down with me what's required (and what options are
available) for controlling a satellite rotor via computer?

Obviously, the rotor on one end, and the computer running some form of
tracking software on the other. Where I have questions is what is
available/needed to interface with the control box of the rotor; i.e
what's the RS232 board that is offered for the G-5500? Do I need
this? What about the Kansas City Tracker, or W0LMD Sat Tracker Jr?

Thanks,

Bill
