G-5500 repaired; relevant part numbers

Many thanks to those of you offering help (and in the case of Ron Long, a
whole collection of tidbits!) in the repair of my G-5500 elevation unit.

It was indeed a bad potentiometer. The replacement wasn't too bad (I did
index many things with markers, etc.) so it went fairly well. It's back up
and ready for AO-40 tonight (if the trees permit..hi).

In addition, since I needed to get the resistor pot, I decided to go ahead
and get the little lamp/bulb for the control unit, as one of those had
burned out.

Some tidbits I thought I might share:

I got two parts from "Yeasu" (it is actually called Vertex Standard, phone
is 714-827-7600).

Part # Q9000408
Potentiometer for G-500A ROTO
cost ~ $28 US
The parts guy did NOT have the G-5500 part number, so we both figured the
one listed for the G-5400 was the same (it's for elevation). You see how
it showed up on the parts list--for the G-500A.

Part # Q1000071
LAMP 14V for G-5400B/5600B
cost ~ $1 US or so (I forget exact cost, I bought 2).
It's an interesting little bulb, with "axial" leads through a small glass
tube-type bulb.

Thought I'd share this info for those interested. With the resistor pot
costing $30, I'd hate to get the wrong one :)

73 and thanks again for all the great feedback,

Mark L. Hammond [N8MH]
