Re: Protectors for downconverters

Hi Joe!

I have the SSB Electronics protector on my IC-910H... boy, it sure saved my
behind (an ample one!) more than once... real easy to forget to switch to
the 2 mter antenna after an AO-40 pass... they claim that it presents a very
poor match to the rig, which would then invoke the protection set up in the
radio, rolling back the output power... might be interesting to put the ol'
bird wattmeter in line and see what it looks like and how much power
actually gets through. They do claim that they only guarantee that this
will work with their stuff. Needless to say, it protects my UEK-3000
well.... next move will be to get a Hamtronics 2 meter to 10 meter converter
and plug this into the receive only socket on my 756PRO.

Hope this helps!
