Re: Kenwood D7

Note: Strictly subjective comments to follow.....

I have noticed a big performance difference of my D7 factory Ni-Cd battery & my after-market Ni-Mh depending upon the length of
charge. I use the factory standard wall charger. Seems the battery is remarkably better with a 14 hour charge versus a 10 or even 12
hour charge. This comment is made without regard to the built-in battery saver feature, TNC usage, number of bands (or VFOs), or Tx
/ Rx ratio.

I last used my D7 at the Dayton Hamfest, where I operated only the B VFO, CTCSS & mainly E-low power. The above Ni-Mh battery pack
lasted about 8 hours.

The standard F6 has a Lithium Ion battery. From my experience with cell phone batteries, I can tell you that the Lithium Ion battery
definitely has more watts per ounce than a Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh.
