L-BAND

John
I am using a pair of M2 23CM22EZ antennas circular polarized----18.4 DBIC.
I find that works a little better than linear polarization with the same
antennas.
I am using the DEM 2318PACK 20 watts saturated and 16 watts out at 1 Db
compression.
Below 18 degrees squint on L1 it works ok for SSB.
Above 18 degrees squint on L1 it starts getting weaker pretty quick.
I have made contacts up to 25 degrees squint but the receive station must be
good.
Since L2 is 5 to 6 Db deafer than L1 it works ok for SSB at squints below 10
degrees.
I have made contacts with it on L2 at squints up to 20 degrees but
it is weak on SSB and the receiving station must have a very good setup.
Hope that helps
73
Rick

Has anyone reports on using the DEM 35 watt L band amp? I was pondering
using this at the antenna, a 55 el Loop yagi. With 10 watts in the shack and
the normal loss of LDF4-50 I should have just about 1 1/2 watts to drive it
putting 35 right at the antenna.

My experience with a '736 is that 10 watts L band in the shack is 'readable'
but not adequate...
