RE: An open letter re: Kayser and Mode B

Drew:

I don't even think this is right. I believe that AO-7 is
completely legal and should be operated in Mode B as much
as, or more, than A. What will change since the late 1970's
are those GROUND STATIONS that will be allowed to transmit
to it. I think that, for example, JA's will not be allowed
to transmit to it but that W/K/VE will probably be allowed to.

I would let the dust settle before I started joining my brother
Mel Gibson unless I was absolutely certain that Patrick
Stewart was after me and Julia Roberts wanted to be my girl
(Conspiracy Theory).

What I am certain of is that we need to gain control of AO-7
if we can. By the way, have you operated AO-10 on Mode B
recently?

Larry, I thought you dropped off this list?

<<SNIP>

grumbling and general unhappiness with the situation emerges. Then a miracle
happens, AO-7 returns to life, including it's incredibly well built, loud,
sensitive mode B transponder. But wait! We can't use that mode! Time have
changed and despite the satellite being launched after the rule change, you
can't transmit to it on that frequency, you might interfere with moonbounce,
432 weak sigs, and other vital communications. Don't worry about the fact
