This morning I set up my portable AO40 station in the parking lot at work to operate the 31 minute window between V63ZF AOS and when the transponder shut off for RUDAK. I could hear the beacon and my downlink very well. But no V63ZF.
For the remainder of Rolf's stay in Micronesia, RUDAK consumes all "good squint" windows to the Eastern United States. Transponder users in the Eastern U.S. have the following "high squint" windows to contact V63ZF.
To Yap island, Grid PJ99
Mon. 15 July, 1145-1315 UTC, squint ~35-->26 degrees (MA 43-60)
To Pohnpei island, Grid QJ69
Fri. 19 July, 1145-1300 UTC, squint ~32-->23 degrees (MA 46-66)
Tue. 23 July, 1145-1300 UTC, squint ~29-->20 degrees (MA 52-72)
Sat. 27 July, 1130-1245 UTC, squint ~27-->18 degrees (MA 55-75)
The exact start time of each window depends on Rolf's ability to work low elevations to the east. The exact end time of each window depends on your location in the Eastern United States. As you can see, the squint improves near the end of his stay in Pohnpei.
I will try to contact Rolf via email to find out which of these windows he plans to be QRV, and how low he can work AO40 to his east.
