AO-40

Hello All,

Well made it !!!! Finally a contact on AO-40 !

Worked Bill KC9GI and Roy VE7BPB at 02:18 PDT and also got a chance to
meet Leila ( the electronic referee ). Signals were good S7 to S9 + 10db
with good strong audio. I am using 3137AA down converter (from Bob K5GNA
) that converts to 2 meter IF on a six foot aluminium dish (old TVRO)
with a 2 1/4 turn helix.

Thanks to all that supplied information that helped me get the old dish
converted to an AO-40 Receiving Dish. Special thanks to Jerry K5OE and
Bill KC9GI for ideas on how to make it all work, and Stu VE7BQY, and Ray
VE7LHH for assistance and encouragement when things were not going
together so well (mainly from working in 100°+ temperatures outside). I
will also provide location information for cooking hotdogs using the
dish as a parabolic oven. Lots of fun and not really that difficult with
a bit of coaching.

I will provide a link to pictures and building plans when I get it in
its final location on the roof of the tool shed ( the only place the YL
would let me put it ).

Thanks Everyone ! And look forward to catching you on AO-40.
