[amsat-bb] AO-7 weirdness

2330 AO-7 pass here in EL88 the 2m beacon was on, extremely loud and clear.
The transponder however was not working right. There were beacon images,
very rough and louder than the beacon, at 956, 941, and 925. I did manage to
hear my dits at closest approach, but with 100 watts and 18 elements uplink
only, and very faint at that. there was no other activity that I heard for
the entire pass.

What could cause this, and has anyone noticed it before? Could the A
receiver and B transmitter be on together or something like that?
