RE: Spacemen

Jack,
It is amazing how little the general Public knows and understands about what
we do! They will buy most anything. I once ran a couple hundred AM radials
and landed up in farmer's fields and just about anywhere you can think about
with my topo map and field strength meter. I had so much fun making up
stories about my mission, from looking for gold to checking on atomic waste.

Gunter,

I have my AO-40 setup (60 cm dish, 11 el 432) on a
telecoping pole on the back of my Geo Tracker. I have too
many trees near my apartment and I drive to other locations
with a clear view of the horizon. Some people ask me about
it and I tell them that I listen to Oprah on the way to
work. That usually satisfies them and its better than saying
I listen to voices from space. Then one day I was parked in
front of a Radio shack and as I got out of the car to go in,
someone passed by and looked at the antenna and said
"Phoning home?"

I spent the next three days walking around the house
saying"ET phone home..ET phone home!!" in my best ET accent
Until my 8 year old daughter made me stop.
