Hi, 

If the moon is a crazy idea ...why is amsat putting resourses in a mars
project ?? I wonder what use it wil have for amateurs ??

You have missed the point! The idea is not to put it in LEO because it
is 
easier, but to put it on the moon because it is *harder*
