Ideal case:

Adjust both uplink and downlink so that the frequency at the _satellite_ is
constant.  Requires a lot of knob twiddling or computer control.  This is
otherwise known as the "One True Rule" (more on the AMSAT site).


Adjust the _highest_ of the frequencies in use.  For both modes A and B,
this means the _uplink_.  For mode J and AO-40 U/S or L/S, you'd adjust the
_downlink_.  There will be some "chasing around the dial", due to differing
geometry at each station.

The One True Rule is best, if you can manage that :-)
