RE: Listened to mode S on AO-40 first time



Things I downloaded from different websites (more than one) said 120 MHz.
One said he thought it was 122 MHz. I scanned from below 120 through 130 MHz
and the only place it showed up was at the 125 MHz spot. I guess I will have
to open it up finally and see what is inside. This is one bought from Mike
Folsum in that batch of 100 that he imported.

Not important - I was just surprised.

An unmodified Drake 2880 should have had a 50 MHz signal at 122 MHz.  The LO
is at 2278 MHz and the crystal is at 8.8984 MHz.

50 x 48 = 2400 MHz
8.8984 x 256 = 2278
2278 + 122 = 2400
